MISA-Zimbabwe
The Zimbabwe chapter was established in 1997 and has a membership drawn from media practitioners and media houses. It also has associated members with an interest in media freedom and freedom of speech.

Media Monitoring Project of Zimbabwe
The MMPZ, was formed in the year 2000 to monitor and analyse news and current affairs on television, radio and the print media in Zimbabwe, to promote responsible journalism.
The MMPZ monitors media to determine conformity to international standards of press freedom and acceptable professional ethical standards of journalism. Highly reccommended for media organisations and journalists, who want to measure their performance and work.

Media Council of Zimbabwe
Launched in June 2007, the MCZ, is a body meant to act as a self-regulatory body for Zimbabwean journalists. The council serves to mediate in disputes between journalists and the general public. The council was set up on the basis that journalists, themselves should regulate their operations, solve disputes amicably without arrests, harassment or closures. The intention is to make sure journalistsIt is run by journalists, lawyers, clerics etc. Publishers and editors are also represented.
Media Information Commission Formed under the Access To Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the MIC has largely been there to act as the Media Hangman. Its chairman, ironically a former Mass Communication lecturere at the Harare Polytechnic, Tafataona Mahoso, has used the commission to harss journalists and close down several media houses, including the Daily News.
The MIC was formed
in 2002 and all journalists are required to be registered, with the it, failure to which they will be unable to work as journalists. Journalists are required to be register annually.To be registered as a journalist, one must be Zimbabwean citizen and based in Zimbabwe. Failure to do may result in a two-year jail term or a fine.
The commission has the power to “discipline ” journalists after affording them a “fair hearing”. The commission may delete a journalist’s name from the register, order his/her suspension for a specified period and impose conditions it deems fit subject to which he/she shall be allowed to practice.
Under the Act, the commission is supposed to ensure people have access to information and control of Nmass media services and receive and act upon comments from the public about the administration and performance of the media.
