 A contest for broadcast and print African journalists is seeking works that appeared in printed publications or electronic media that is primarily targeted at and received by an African audience. Deadline for submissions: January 28, 2010.

The previous winner of the award is Zimbabwean journalist Hopewell Chi’nono. 

Stories submitted to the CNN African Journalists Awards 2010 should be presented in a balanced and thoroughly researched manner. Contestants may submit up to four separate stories. The material must have been published during 2009.

 Several finalists will be awarded an all expenses paid journalism workshop and a trip to Kampala, Uganda in May, 2010 for the awards ceremony. Cash prizes and laptops will also be awarded.

 The 2010 African Journalism winner will be given a journalism fellowship at CNN headquarters in Atlanta.
